Among the more memorable amenities that Edése Doret created recently in the interior of a private Boeing 747-400 was a cocktail bar that could disappear from view at a moment’s notice. "My client, a Middle Eastern businessman, enjoys alcohol, but drinking is not allowed in his country, so he wanted a secret space built onboard to hide the bar," says the Haitian-born, New York–based designer. So Doret constructed a bar behind a bookshelf in a main-deck lounge that could be opened by flipping a hidden switch. "The owner has access to it during flight," he explains, "but it is completely disguised when the religious police get on board to inspect the plane."

Markets worldwide are picking up for fresh mango as season starts are running late in Guatemala and Southern Mexico. The market in USA has picked up $1.00 per carton in the past 10 days. Current demand for smaller fruit is pushing pricing into the $7.00 per (4kg) carton range. Larger fruit is trading in the $6-7.00 range currently.
IMO is projecting a three week window for Peruvian mango shippers to sell profitably in the USA Marketplace.
In Europe, both Brazil and Ghana are running late and light and this will drive the market as well. Quotes today were running in the $7.50 per carton range for Peruvian fruit.
Through week 5 of 2013, Peru has shipped 13,614,780 cartons or the equivalent of 2,456 (40') Containers. (APEM Data)
